My Favourite Hotel Restaurant In London | Laurent
You may have previously heard me talk about how much I LOVE London hotels in the past on my blog. I feel as though these hotels encompass what London is really about, especially when you're greeted by doormen who can hail you a taxi.
Cafe Royal has been around for over 150 years and has accommodated some special guests over it's time including Winston Churchhill, it is well and truly at the top of Londons 'hotel hierarchy' and if there was ever a popular kid at school, Cafe Royal would take the crown.
The other week I had the privilege of dining at the NEW 5* restaurant at Cafe Royal, Laurent. French-born Laurent Tourondel heads up the kitchen there, with restaurants across the globe, Laurent is best known in America where he has restaurants in New York, Miami and Charlotte in North Carolina. Further afield he owns restaurants in Hong Kong, Kazakhstan and the Caribbean.
Laurent has a mouth-watering menu at Cafe Royal, serving grilled specials, fresh vegetables, fish, and meat. In addition to this, the restaurant also offers sushi, which of course I had to try!
Designed by contemporary Italian architect and designer Piero Lissoni, the 110 seat restaurant is located on the first floor of Hotel Café Royal, where an extensive refurbishment has created an entirely new space.
The service was some of the best I've ever, ever, experienced. I think you know you're in good hands when you make a comment on the service before your first drink has even arrived. Every waiter that approached our table came up and introduced them self, each and every single one was very knowledgable about the menu and made some strong suggestions as to what we should order.
The food was outstanding, we started with the famous cheese yorkshire puddings and homemade butter, I don't think any of us spoke while consuming this amazing entree. Following the cheese yorkshire pudding we had a selection of sushi and sushimi. The crispy lobster california rolls were a personal favourite, I won't be forgetting that taste for a while. Following the sushi we had fillet steak which was perfectly cooked, I had this with a selection of sides, this included creamed spinach (my favourite) and new potatoes.
Overall, I was astonished with my experience dining at Laurent. I have never experienced customer service like that, and I have dined in many restaurants in London. The restaurant itself is stunning and looks over Regent Street. There's something very settling about tucking into a fillet steak in a gorgeous restaurant while looking out onto the bustling streets of London knowing you are tucked away in Cafe Royals haven.
I would 100% recommend going to Laurent, even if it's not just for a special occasion, they have seating to cater for all. In fact, I already recommended it to my friend and her partner who also had an incredible experience. I can't wait to return!
